Present/Future Directions

Dr. Martin is from NYC, one of ten children of Irish immigrants. A 1985 Pace University graduate, her career included acute care, staff development, and, more recently, research, advanced practice, and nursing education. She is inspired by travel and work abroad, which has exposed her to international nursing, global health challenges, and global politics.  Her doctoral research explored anti-Muslim discrimination in U.S. healthcare, in which she created a measurement tool for this phenomenon. She holds Certified Nurse Educator credential and is a peer reviewer for the Journal of Transcultural Nursing, Nurse Education Perspectives, and International Nursing Review. She reviews abstracts for the annual Transcultural Nursing Society conference and served as the Treasurer of the Transcultural Nursing Society Scholars Group from 2021-2022. Dr. Martin currently teaches graduate nursing and is passionate about nursing higher education as a means to achieving personal and professional goals and contributing to population health.
