Theme:

Resurgence and Resettlement:

The Roles of Transcultural Nursing

 

Objectives: 

1. Analyze the intersection of organizations and shifting population trends related to resettlement.

(e.g. JCAHO standards, educational accreditation standards, insurance, workplace diversity, response of immigrant workforce to patient populations, or workplace diversity and patient care issues)

 

 

2. Explore the impact of health and illness related to displacement, replacement, and acculturation.

 (e.g. military, immigrant, refugee, disaster displacements, social identity change)

 

 

3. Examine the social, political and economic effects of cultural resurgence on health and illness.

(Cultural  competence, social justice, clinician resources, social determinants of health, environmental health)

 

 

4.  Apply transcultural research to workforce diversity issues of clinicians and organizations. 

 

 


*Please note that we have made some exciting changes for our conference in 2009.  We will have a Welcome Reception on Wednesday evening for our membership and a new member orientation.  The Conference will officially begin on Thursday and go through Saturday afternoon. Posters will be available for viewing throughout the conference.  We hope these improvements will benefit our participants!
